Around The World
Last week, I found myself at familiar places and those not so much. The Charlotte community is opening up and developing a taste for foods that fall so neatly into the “ethnic” food category. Why must they be considered “ethnic” anyways? Aren’t we all about cultural pluralism? Aren’t we supposedly a melting pot? Hm…
I always think it’s funny when I walk down the “international aisle” which really just consists of a sprinkling of Goya or those unmistakable ruby bottles of Sriracha. Consequently, I must venture off to a second store to obtain my Korean groceries, but I’m optimistic that this won’t always be the case.
Here’s my food line up for last week (end):
Mama’s Soybean Soup, Galbi, Tofu, and Korean Radish. YUM!
Crawfish étouffée, extra spicy please.
Spicy Mediterranean Potatoes from a Jewish cafe that just opened across the street. (I’ve been there 4 times since they’ve opened…shhhh)
I also visited an Ethiopian place that I shudder to think about. I can’t say based upon my experience if I enjoyed it or not but I decided not to share until I visit another one to make a better assessment.
I hope the rest of y’all had a delicious week (end).
A new video will be up this week
Love,
Your happy-belly-full Squishy Monster ^.~

At least they’re trying to get other cuisine in the area. That’s always a good start. Everything looks great!
It looks like you had another delicious week! And I agree with your sentiments about the ‘international’ isles in the grocery stores. One day…we’ll have everything in one place!
So much amazing food
Oh, boy, did you have a delicious week! And I wish our “international” aisle had a better selection, too~

I had to go and get something to eat while reading this post! All looks delicious
I feel like most activities are better with food
A girl asked me what my hereditary was this weekend LOL
I think I gained about 20 lbs this past week LOL

All the food looks amazing! I wish the stores would just sell all kinds of food so we wouldn’t have to go to different stores! I had to laugh at someone asking you, your hereditary…lol! That’s funny

Everything looks delicious! Have a good week!
Fish tacos and cuban sandwiches? We are kindred souls, my friend.
I love “ethnic foods” more than other non-ethnic foods (?) so I wonder if that just makes them normal regular old food to me? Hmm. Sounds like you’ve had a tasty week!
I know, right? ^.^
I don’t doubt it
Thanks, Reeni–you too!!
What an eclectic background, Les! I still have hope–the optimist in me has decided that things will change for the better–soon =D (and that’s all around, not just food) *fingers crossed*
I’m practically drooling here. You’re so lucky to have such a variety of cuisine practically on your doorstep.
It’s something that’s starting to gain popularity. I hope it’s not like the fro-yo craze and that it’s here to stay.
