NYC, Day II
There was a homeless man asleep under brown paper bags with scratches all over his face. Self inflicted? Crazy girlfriend? Bum fight?? Could I exchange my sore feet from being a tourist all day for dripping wounds? Soft fluffy pillows for nothing but crumbly piles of brown snow to keep me company? His bags faintly read “Big Brown Bag” and under the twinkling artificial lights of the city and $17 cocktails, he almost seemed part of the old buildings. There forever with no one noticing.
What will he dream about tonight?
NY is what I always feel like in my head. Rush-whirl-whizz.
Breakfast: Daenjang Jjigae, Dumplings, Anchovies, Bean Sprouts.
The old man who barely spoke any English assured me that custard buns are” good for you and make you very strong.”
Lunch. In my opinion, it was good but not worth the-2-1/2 hour-wait-food-gasm-good.
Between the two, the “wafel” dribbled with fudge “dinges” won, hands down in comparison to the crack pie that everyone insisted no, screamed that I just must try (but that’s just me).
Roasting pigs, alligator claws, sea cucumber, and toads all available at your neighborhood China Town.
Hello my friend durian! Fancy meeting you here.
I can’t wait to go back. Of all the times I’ve been, I’ve yet to venture beyond lower Manhattan–there’s so much more uneaten territory!
…and speaking of, there is such a vast array of hot men in the city. It seems that NYC should win an award for providing such a high quality buffet of handsome, cultured men. Mom and I got lost a few times but I can’t say that I minded one bit asking for direction. To this day in my city, I still meet people that comment on how well I speak the English language which in turn, makes me want to throw a donut at them, haha. Oh sexy English man that I bumped into at the Milk Bar, won’t you feed me bits of pie with your fingers??
Fudge dinges and sexy crack pie,
Love,
Your Squishy Monster ^.~

I was curious if you wrote something new about NY. And it was fun to read it. And pictures of this helpful man please D:
I LOVE THE WAFELS AND DINGES! OMG soooo yummy! I also feel like nyc is what my brain is like. I, however, disagree about the men. They’re douchey, I don’t care for em.
You should meet the men here, lol.
I love NY, too. And I sheepishly admit I’ve yet to make it to Brooklyn. My bad. It’s like you said — there’s so much to see in Manhattan and beyond that one needs to just extend the vacation by another four days. Happy holidays to you!
Sad about the homeless man. Lately I have been seeing more and more homeless men
I love the wafel!!
You know the DEA isn’t doing a great job when restaurants openly serve crack pie.
oh, I wish I’d thought to stuff some more in my purse!
Couldn’t be truer..can’t wait to return!
What an adventure you’ve had.. I love New York and I totally agree, the men (and the women) are totally beautiful there. It might have something to do with how beautifully dressed many of them are. I’ll remember to try the wafels next time I get to New York:)
Well I’m surprised you didn’t get asked for your number several times by said sexy men, Miss Hotness. Then again, mama might have been a deterrent. Don’t mess with a girl when she’s with her mama-lol.
It’s been way too long since I visited New York and your post makes me want to hop on a plane straight away!
I’m going in March and I can’t wait!!!
I’m so freaking excited for this trip!!
I love NYC! Best pizza places! I wish I went to the Milk Bar when I was there but instead ate like 4 Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, yum yum.
love this pics and also your blog! It’s so nice!!! I follow you!
Pass to my blog and if it likes you follow me too, I will be so glad
I didn’t even know you knew English…so trippy.

Dear Squishy Monster,
That alligator claw! If I were to ever cook with it, you’ll be sure I would give it a good manicure first!
Have a great 2013!
Oh Angela….it looked like you had a wonderful time in the Big Apple! You write so well and you have such a compassionate heart! No matter where I travel, I always like to turn it into an eating tour. Those waffles would have had me sold, too! Glad you had a safe and wonderful trip! Happy New Year! : )
It looks and sounds as if you had a great visit. The food looks great except that trip to China Town might scare me…lol! I bet the men visuals were a highlight
NYC is so delicious!
oh yes it is!
ohhh yes, the city has you covered on dessert
Anne, you are so incredibly sweet! I hope you have a happy new year!!
Makes me wonder what happened to the rest of him? Happy 2013!!
What an interesting pic…you always surprise me, Allen =)
Thank you Fra =)
I have to say of all the mass cupcake chains, Magnolia was the better of them all as I was VERY disappointed with Sprinkles. I will have to go back to get a second taste.
I bet baby boy is excited to…please give him a big ole kiss for me!!
It could be an exciting new years resolution!
awww shucks, V! Me and mama were in our own little world too though my baby brother said next time, I should go by myself and just hang out, lol.
The wafels are great, Barb, and I hope you’ve been too!
